Blowing smoke

She was born in Redondo Beach, CA 1928. My aunt told me of the type of woman my mother was when she was a teenager in the 1940’s: my mother would wear pants, and stand outside a local diner smoking--not something women did in those days. The owner banned her from the diner…and so every night my mother would stand out in front of the diner smoking and wearing pants just to piss off the owner.
She died when I was 16 on May 11, 1983…and boy I needed her…but she taught me the basics. And I still remember and use those tools she gave me. I miss her most everyday.
